LANTERN RUN/WALK

Kemper Academy is hosting a 5K Lantern Run/Walk on April 28. Check in will begin at 3 p.m. and the run will start at 4 p.m. followed by the 2nd Annual Night Under The Stars. A night of music, games, concessions and more at 6 p.m. The entry fee will be $15 per runner and all proceeds will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

HOMECOMING SET

The Center Ridge Baptist Church, will observe their annual homecoming May 6, beginning at 11 a.m. followed by a 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night revival. Rev. Cliff Barker is the Pastor of the Center Ridge Church. Rev. Jesse Nabb will conduct the three night revival.

FISH FRY SET

The beautification ministry of the Brown Ridge MB Church will be hosting a Fish Fry on Saturday, May 5. We will start serving at 10:30 a.m.-until all sold out. We will set up at the McIntosh Community Center on Hwy 39 South-Ellerby Rd. We are offering deliveries on orders of five or more for business, hospital and commercial residents. Donations are welcome.

CEMETERY METTING

Center Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery Association in Kemper County, will hold its annual meeting on Homecoming Day after the noon day meal on May 6. Families and friends who have loved ones buried in the cemetery are invited to attend and to help with the maintenance and up-keep of the cemetery. The meeting will start at 1:15. We have bought a half acre to the south and plans are to get the trees cut and the new fence finished. Join our 4-H Forestry Team to learn about 4-H, our Forestry program, contests, and more.  We will also learn the basics of tree identification and put that knowledge to use as we learn about trees that are native to Mississippi. We will explore careers in forestry and you will get to work closely with the Kemper County Forestry Association and learn more about the organization. You do NOT have to be a current 4-H member to be a part of this team. Youth ages 14-18 are welcome. Kemper County is a participant in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Project proving a free book mailed monthly to the child in the child’s name from birth until the child reaches the age of five. This project is sponsored by the United Way of East Mississippi and the North American Coal Company, Inc in Kemper County.
