Members of the Kemper County Homemakers Association recently learned about ways to prevent heart disease in their “Learn and Grow” monthly meeting

MSU Extension in Kemper County recently held a "Learn & Grow" session at the Ruby Rankin Farmer's Market Building.

The topic was "Love Your Heart" in honor of American Heart Month. Extension Agent, Malikah Jones, presented facts about heart disease and shared some heart healthy tips with the group.

Mary Bennamon, nutrition educator, prepared some heart healthy recipes for participants to sample. Participants were also able to get blood pressure checked.

Learn and Grow sessions will be conducted monthly and is brought to you through a partnership with Kemper County Extension, Mississippi Homemaker Volunteers, and the Coalition for a Healthy Kemper County.

 A portion of the funds to conduct these free session are made possible through a grant from the Partners for Kemper Foundation.

The next session on "Cooking with Air" is scheduled for March 19th at 11 a.m. at the Ruby Rankin Farmer's Market Building in DeKalb. For more information about any of Extension programs please call 601-743-2837.
