Mississippi Care Center of DeKalb hosts its annual “Parade of Hats” every year just before Easter.

This is when the residents of the facility get a chance to show off their creativity and appreciation for the holiday season by decorating and wearing springtime/Easter-themed hats.

This year, Ruby Bolen and her staff decided to do something different. They invited the Easter Bunny along with the surrounding schools to come share in the fun.  Due to the potential for bad weather, the Kemper County School District was not able to attend the event.

However, that didn’t stop other area students. Students from Kemper Academy and other children from the community came out on Thursday, April 18, 2019 to celebrate the season with the residents. The students received goodie bags and other treaties from the staff.

Plus, they got a chance to interact with the residents of the facility.
