Nanih Waiya dropped a pair of 10-0 decisions last week on the softball diamond in their final pre-Spring Break action of the 2017 season.

The Lady Warriors fell 10-0 to a strong Ethel team on Monday and then dropped a 10-0 decision at Class 4A Kosciusko on Thursday. They are now off until Friday, when they are slated to see action in the Clarkdale Spring Fling Fast-Pitch Tournament at Northeast Park in Meridian.

Next week, Nanih Waiya will host West Lowndes on Monday (March 20).

Against Ethel last Monday, the Lady Warriors started strong, trailing just 1-0 through three innings. But the Lady Tigers scored twice in the fourth frame and three times in the fifth as they began to pull away.

Nanih Waiya managed four hits, including a triple by Dallyn Nance. Hannah Higginbotham, Savanna Watkins and Hope Thames all had singles.

Nance was the losing pitcher, striking out five and giving up nine earned runs.

On Thursday at Kosciusko, the Lady Warriors again started strong and trailed just 2-0 going into the fourth inning. There, the Lady Whippets scored twice more, then busted it open with four more runs in the fifth.

Nance had a double and Watkins had a single for Nanih Waiya’s only hits.

Kaylee Gregory went 5.1 innings in the circle and was charged with the loss.

Last week’s losses dropped the Lady Warriors to 2-6 this season.
