Kemper Academy's football team will try again for its first win of the 2017 season when the Rams host Delta Academy this week.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., on "The Hill" in DeKalb Friday night.

Kemper comes into the contest off the second of its two open dates this season. The Rams are 0-3 thus far, including a pair of losses to ranked teams. Delta Academy, meanwhile, comes into the contest with a 2-2 record.

The Raiders lost their first two games this year, including a 40-22 setback to two-time, defending 8-man state champion Tallulah, La. But Delta rebounded in Week 3 to hammer Rebul Academy 65-14, and after a bye, posted a 28-22 win over Marvell (Ark.) Academy last week in its North District opener.

"They got off to a slow start, but it looks like they're starting to put things together now," Kemper coach Pete McCleskey said. "They always have good athletes."

Kemper and Delta have split the last four meetings in the series.

Prior to the bye week, Kemper dropped a 48-8 decision to Prentiss Christian School which is now ranked No. 1. The Rams turned the ball over five times in that loss.

Kemper is also expected to have the services of senior lineman Chase Cawthorn this week.

Cawthorn has been out since suffering a dislocated elbow in a season-opening loss at Tallulah back on Aug. 18.
